The magazine was published in Calcutta until 1932 and was a leading journal for Assamese literature in the first half of the 20th century. In 1909, the magazine published O Mur Apunar Desh, the traditional song of Assam, written by Bezbarua and set to music by Kamala Prasad Agarwala. The song was later adopted as Assam's state song in 1927.
